About Us

We are traders, like you. We are students, like you. We never stop learning. We strive to be the best possible teachers of options trade. We teach options trading because trading, done properly, can change your life and the lives of your loved ones. We teach trading because we love to pass along what we have learned. There is joy there.

None of us trade or teach because we have to. We trade and teach because it is a passion. We want you to have the same success. We teach the trader the science and art of option trading. Our program encourages the participant to expand their knowledge at their own pace, and with respect for their budget. We teach how to process data objectively and to take consistent and repeatable trading decisions. We do not simply tell traders when and what to trade and what button to push.

We walk the talk. We trade our own capital, not other’s. We trade in the real market and with real money, not in paper accounts. We trade in volatile markets with uncertainty and with live market entries and exits, not the simulated perfection of paper entries and exits.

Our curriculum is not an elective side bar or a passive offering. Your education is front and center. Education is both mandatory and challenging. We will teach you to precisely calculate and manage risk. We will teach you the basics, options fundamentals, simple spreads, advanced application, and everything in between. We will not allow you to enter a higher Fibonacci level until you have demonstrated mastery at the preceding levels. We will not encourage you to paper trade you until you know how to operate responsibly, methodically, without emotion but with confidence.

We advocate for conservative and continuous risk management, every trade, every time. We insist on evidenced based trading methodology. We don’t trade on spurious “gut feelings” or a “do what I say because I just know” methodology. You will fully comprehend the decision process of why we take our trades, and more importantly why we reject others. We teach you how to spot trade set ups, how to set limit entries, and optimize exits.

Dr. Jonathan Calure

Jonathan CalureDr. Jonathan Calure founded The Awesome Options Company in the fall of 2022. Dr. Calure’s journey, to paraphrase the poet Robert Frost, has been one on the road “less traveled.”

Dr. Calure currently serves as a Managing Partner of The Bluewater Option Fund where he trades options professionally. His primary focus at Bluewater is Short Term Options Trade, but also engages in swing trade, advanced spread trade, and unusual option activity.

Dr. Calure hails from Silver Spring, Maryland. He is a proud alum of Our Lady of Good Counsel High School, where he continues to serve on the President’s Advisory Council. Dr. Calure was awarded a Chancellor’s Scholarship to the University of Maryland at College Park. After graduating cum laude from the University of Maryland’s School of Aerospace Engineering in 1989, Dr. Calure immediately went to work as a flight dynamics engineer at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. Dr. Calure served as a flight dynamic engineer for the Earth Radiation Budget Experiment Satellite (ERBE), which was instrumental in describing the “hole” in the ozone layer.

Dr. Calure also served as one of the engineers working with the International Comet Explorer Satellite (ICE), which was tasked to make observations of the Giacobini-Zinner Comet. Dr. Calure continued to work as an engineer at NASA while he was a medical student at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore. He went on to complete a six-year residency in General Surgery and a fellowship in Cardiovascular/Thoracic Surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Dr. Calure is a diplomate of both the Board of General Surgery and the Board of Thoracic Surgery. He is trained in both classic and open surgical techniques, and he is broadly trained in minimally invasive, video-assisted and catheter-based techniques. He is a national leader in minimally invasive vein care with an experience of more than 40,000 minimally invasive vein procedures. Dr. Calure was one of the first physicians in the Baltimore-Washington area to perform radiofrequency ablation to treat saphenous vein reflux, known as the Venefit® or VNUS Closure® procedure. He has performed over 2,000 major cases, including open-heart, vascular, and general surgeries. Dr. Calure has trained other physicians from the United States and internationally.

Dr. Calure is well known to the D.C./Baltimore community, having served as a cardiovascular surgeon for nearly two decades. He founded Maryland Vein Professionals (MVP) in 2006. The small four-room office had tripled in size by 2008. Three employees grew to twenty. By 2010 the practice had reached across central Maryland with locations in Chevy Chase and Annapolis, Maryland. In 2014 MVP opened a new headquarters with a 10,000-square-foot Ambulatory Surgical Center in Columbia, Maryland. In 2017 MVP opened in Baltimore County with an Office in Towson. MVP grew to a practice of five surgeons, with over 40 staff and more than 75,000 happy, healthy patients. In 2020, Maryland Vein Professionals aligned with The Center for Vein Restoration, fulfilling the vision of becoming a national vein care practice.

The acquisition of Dr. Calure’s practice, Maryland Vein Professionals, marked the beginning of a new direction in his career path. Shortly after retiring from surgery, the world of options trading became his passion and primary focus. The roads of Dr. Calure and options trading soon converged, “and this,” as Frost declared, “has made all the difference.” Dr. Calure’s next chapter began with an extensive quest for knowledge. After reading some 60 books on the subject, he began to trade options. In 2021, Dr. Calure joined Prosper Trading Academy in early 2022. While writing The Awesome Options Book, he was preparing for the certified market technician) (CMT) exam.

Dr. Calure is a member of The Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, The American Board of Surgery, and The Society of Thoracic Surgeons. Prior to opening his own surgical center, Dr. Calure held cardiac surgery privileges at Washington Adventist Hospital, George Washington University Hospital, and MedStar Washington Hospital Center. In his spare time, Dr. Calure is an assistant coach for his son’s baseball team with the HCYP Raiders. He enjoys playing and listening to music and hiking outdoors. He is an avid fan of the Orioles and the Ravens. He is active in his church. He resides in Highland, Maryland, and Ivins, Utah. with his wife Rosanne, three children and two Siamese cats.
